The weekend was a blast! (Literally)
Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 8:05PM Ok, I'm kind of bummed at the moment because I just typed this blog and accidentally hit the cancel button before saving it! : ( So here I am typing my thoughts again......
Well, I'm typing the blog this time and not doing a video blog. I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! It was a great one for me and got a lot of things done for the most part and spent time with friends. I definitely have to say that I ate more food and took in more fluids than I have in a long time in one weekend. So I will for sure be getting up in the morning to burn a few calories on the bike before work! ha! ...... But I can't complain at all because the weekend was a lot of fun. I hope yours was the same!
Yesterday I went up to my friend Pat & Amee's place to have a BBQ with friends, beer, music, & fireworks. Good combination huh?! : ) A few of my friends went to the local fireworks stand and bought a crap load of them! We had some serious stuff with high explosive mortars where you can feel the bass of the blast when it took off. Pretty damn cool. We didn't need to go to downtown Nashville or Franklin with what we had! Check it out this small video clip I did on my iPhone of one takeoff:
Thankfully we were able to shoot off quite a bit before it started raining more. By that time I was exhausted simply because of the food & liquid intake. Grilled up two delicious seasoned burgers, chips, 3 Shiner beers, a beer margarita that Amee made, and a couple of sodas. So that was some serious calorie intake and I was stuffed! : )
Today I spent the day location scouting with my talented & funny musician friend Katha Harris for our shoot next weekend. We definitely accomplished what we had set out to do and I'm happy about that. So I think the shoot will go quite well for us as long as the weather behaves itself. We did a lot of driving today and even ventured out to Leiper's Fork and downtown Franklin. We even had a yummy southern lunch at Puckett's in downtown Franklin. That is one of the few things that Katha & I share is a hearty appetite and a love for good food. And I just recently got her hooked on my favorite show Dexter as well! : ) That's funny. Anyway, as we were coming back through the Music Row area we stopped off by Rachel Williams's management office and snapped this shot of the billboard out front cladding my photos of her.
I'm always keeping busy and the word "bored" is never in my vocabulary. I guess that's a good thing though! Unfortunately I have so much going on though that I never have time to do it all or get it done when I like. I currently have this on my agenda this week:
- Finish editing the photos for the last musician I worked with.
- Add a home page slideshow and a music player to my website.
- Email two clients to confirm shoots this month along with possible meetings with them in advance.
- Hopefully get to the photos from my last shoot with my friends Roe & Aria the AWESOME makeup artist. I can't wait to start editing these shots because it is going to be more creative & different than anything I have done before!
Joining Model Mayhem has been great lately because I've been able to connect with other creative people and expanding my portfolio even more. I've had the strong desire lately to work with other creative people like myself in order to create something awesome together without the stress of it being too commercial or serious money involved stifling the creativity. As an artist, sometimes it's not worth the money in order to be held back on the expression of the art we love. So I'm in talks with a few very cool models at the moment and I hope we're able to schedule something in the very near future!
One last side note..... Off & on I've been having dropout problems with my DSL for at least 3 or 4 months now. It was drop connection at random times. Kind of annoying especially since I've enjoyed a flawless connection for the past 5 years now. Anyway, Larry the AT&T guy came out yesterday morning and troubleshooted my in-house wiring and found a slight weak signal. Then he went outside to test the wiring outside. He changed out my DSL port outside and switched me over to a new sub-network. It made a huge improvement in signal quality and I can already tell there is a speed increase too. I'm quite happy with his expertise and help. I hope this ultimately corrects the dropout problem too! Because I spend a lot of time on the internet at home whether it be with emails, blogs, uploading photos, or website work. It never ends for me!
Alright, I've already typed over 850 words now so I better end this blog before it becomes a book! ha!
Thanks for reading and your support! I truly appreciate it! I'll be in touch again soon with new work of course as always! I'm very thankful for all the great artists & creative minds I've worked with thus far over the last couple of years. And I definitely don't see it ending anytime soon! : )
All the best,
-Kevin

Mark L. told me a little about the July 4th celebration... sounds like y'all had a great time. Good to hear things are rolling for you. We'll have to meet up when I get back from Texas so you can catch me up on things.
